Grant Overview
Reengaging Disconnected Youth through Skills Training
Technology-Enabled Approaches This funding initiative emphasizes the use of technology-based solutions to reengage out-of-school youth in Illinois and provide them with the necessary skills and job placement assistance. Grantees are expected to leverage digital platforms, online training modules, and virtual mentorship programs to reach and support a larger number of disconnected youth, while also ensuring equitable access to these resources.
Data-Driven Talent Identification The program requires grantees to implement data-driven approaches to identify and recruit out-of-school youth who can benefit the most from the skills training and job placement services. This may involve the use of predictive analytics, social media outreach, and community-based partnerships to reach and engage with the target population effectively.
Integrated Workforce Development Ecosystem Successful grantees will be expected to establish robust partnerships with local employers, industry associations, and workforce development agencies to create a comprehensive ecosystem that aligns the skills training curriculum with the evolving needs of the job market. This integration will ensure that program participants acquire in-demand skills and have access to relevant job opportunities upon completion of the training.
Performance Monitoring and Continuous Improvement Grant recipients will be required to closely monitor the outcomes of their skills training and job placement programs, using data-driven metrics to measure the success of their initiatives. This includes tracking the employment rates, job retention, and wage growth of program participants, as well as gathering feedback to continuously refine and improve the services offered.
Intent Guard Unlike general youth development programs, this initiative does not provide funding for recreational activities, mentorship programs, or other services that are not directly focused on vocational training and job placement for out-of-school youth in Illinois. The primary goal is to reengage this population and equip them with the skills and resources necessary to secure sustainable employment.
